Buckminster’s Cat Cafe is a dynamic space for cat lovers and coffee lovers on Buffalo’s vibrant west side. We provide a unique, feline-centric atmosphere for meeting and interacting with cats in need of forever homes. We have partnered with Second Chance Sheltering Network, Inc., a local cat rescue organization, to populate our Cat Zone with good-natured, adoptable cats. 

Our dual-zone space (separated physically into a cafe area and a cat meeting area) is also a stylish neighborhood cafe serving locally-roasted coffee, craft beer, fine wines, and a small menu of sweet and savory food items (including vegan and gluten-free options). Though the cafe and cat meeting spaces are physically separated into two distinct areas, they have been thoughtfully configured with a remarkable glass wall partition so the entire space feels transparent and airy.

Our cafe is divided into two distinct zones: a cafe and a cat-interaction zone. Customers can enjoy either or both spaces during their visit.

Want to hang out with our adorable, adoptable cats?

Those wishing to enjoy cat time pay a small fee to enter the Cat Zone and are welcome to bring their food and drinks in with them – it’s a perfect place to relax, unwind, study, or work amongst some of Buffalo’s cutest coffee shop companions.

Don’t want to hang out with cats?

You can happily eat, study, or socialize in the cafe or outside on the Catio while watching the cat action through our glass dividing wall.

cat adoptions

In order to ensure that the cats you will be interacting with are healthy, socialized, and acclimated to both people and other cats, our rescue partner, Second Chance Sheltering Network, Inc., selects adoption-ready cats from their existing shelter or foster populations. Second Chance Sheltering Network, Inc., is a local, foster-based rescue organization. Buckminster’s serves as a communal foster home for a group of 6-10 pre-screened Second Chance cats. Unless otherwise specified, all cats up for adoption at Buckminster’s are Western New York rescues.

Potential adopters will need to complete the normal application processes already set forth by our rescue partner, Second Chance Sheltering Network, Inc.
